(More customer reviews)The first time I tried to use it it would not even cut hair, but rather it tangled and pulled it. I oiled the blades and tried to use it again later, but after a half hour of messing with it I gave up. I'm hoping that maybe the blades just need to be adjusted but I was really expecting it to come in working condition. I'm very disapointed.

Vidal Sasson VSCL817 Cord/Cordless Trimmer with Groomer Review

(More customer reviews)On the plus side, I found this personal groomer to be a step up from the Remington model I was using previously. The adjustable attachment is relatively sturdy, and the trimmer is powerful for its size. I have had it for well over a year now and it still makes for a consistent/even trim every time.
The real downside that I encountered was that the jack at the base of the trimmer became loose very quickly so the outlet cord charger slips out all of the time during use. This problem just made it necessary to use the separate base charger beforehand so it is fully charged before I use it. I used to just plug it directly into the bathroom outlet and use it while it was plugged in.
You can either charge the trimmer directly by plugging it into a wall outlet or mounting it on the charging stand and plugging that into the outlet.
This could be a problem limited to my specific trimmer, but either way it still functions fine with the charger base. I tried the nose trimmer once and never used it again, but I was not purchasing it for that item, and it was simply because I can't stand that tickly feeling in my nose.

(More customer reviews)I have been cutting my boyfriend's hair for quite some time now using similar hair clippers. We forgot his nice (and by nice I mean $20) set at home when we went away for the summer. We picked this up for a low price and gave it a try. Here is our experience:
1. An incredibly loud, irritating noise greets you as soon as you turn this thing on- regardless of whether you have the plastic attachments on, and if the clipper is well oiled (we tried everthing to make it stop).
2. A haircut that felt more like domestic abuse.
3. Complete innefficiency when it came to cutting my boyfriend's thick hair, and we used the setting for coarse hair. The torture lasted about three times longer than it should have because even though I went slowly, it would not cut all the hair in it's path. It couldn't make a clean line around his neck and ears.
4. Relief came only after the haircut was finished, when my boyfriend and I took the clippers out to the driveway and smashed them with a hammer. Seriously. We did.
If you are still considering buying this product, I would recommend using the money you would save on some earplugs- and maybe an anesthesiologist for the person receiving the haircut if you can.
