At first I was a little skeptical of the usability because of its diminutive size but then it dawned on me that without all of the electronics and zero need for batteries that what is left is a really well designed, solidly built trimmer. The business end of the trimmer consists of a rotating scissor mechanism that rotates smoothly and with very little effort. No more yanked out nose hairs or whirring, tickling sensation when trimming my nose hair.

(More customer reviews)Years ago Panasonic used to make a trimmer like this one. It didn't have a vacuum attachement or an LED screen to provide useless information, it just worked. It trimmed close enough to use on a single hair, or just for a quick touch up. Somehow through the years they lost thier way. Thier trimmers stopped trimming and this whole vacuum thing came about. Now, I don't know about you, but unless you've got some kind of ingrown mustache up there, I have no idea why you'd need a vacuum attachement to your nose hair trimmer.
The Andis trimmer is inexpensive, simple and most important provides a close painless detail trim just like the old panasonic that I used to use. It's easy to switch on with a nice great big slider switch right where your thumb goes and gets the job done quickly, easily and simply. I highly recommend this trimmer.
Contrary to a previous review that I read, mine has plenty of power, perhaps the reviewer should ask Amazon for an exchange as it sounds like his is defective.

(More customer reviews)One-battery trimmers simply not strong enough, was glad to find a two-batteries version. It has a perfect design which will attract many more naive surfers like me. Unfortunately it's not good for nose hair trimming. Problem is it makes electric-like unpleasant sensations when touches sensitive skin inside nose.
So much that it makes you scared using it ;-) It also doesn't cut well, doesn't reach inside, makes burning smell and overheated.
UPDATE On 2/7/2007:
From my recent experience, the MicroTOUCH Turbo is an excellent alternative which has no problems mentioned above. The only problem is its durability (you may find yourself buying 2 per year) but at the price below $10 this is not a real issue. Good luck!

(More customer reviews)The family convinced me it was time to trim my nose hairs, so I purchased this Panasonic personal grooming device. It is compact, runs on a single AA battery, comes apart for cleaning, uses stainless steel blades, and seems safe to use.
Unfortunately, it does not cut nose hairs. It vibrates, tickles, and twirls them around, but too often fails to actually trim them off. In addition, the non-replaceable blade is designed to wear out after about two years of use.
There must be better products on the market.
Note: My experience is with the ER115KC version of this product, which is a washable variation of the ER112BC product.

I own their plug-in electric hair groomer and it is powerful and well made. Unfortunately, this nose trimmer is not of the same quality. It is cheaply made foreign junk with the Wahl name stamped on it. The cutter actually did a decent job, for a week or two. Then started having trouble with the little motor, wouldn't turn or cut. I took it apart and the motor looks like a cheap motor from a toy in a happy meal. Waste of money. os

This product is simple enough in design and I like that it is not battery operated. However, for me it just didn't seem to get the job done well enough. I found it to pluck my nosehairs more than a nice clean snip or cut. Seemed to work best when I closed the blades then twisted the unit with the hairs ensnared between them. Of course, this wasn't so comfortable as it was really just plucking the hairs out. Have a hard time recommending this product.
