I have tried 5-6 hair trimmers, mostly for nose hair. They were all worthless -- until I found the Micro Trimmer. This little puppy works perfectly.
I had given up on finding a good trimmer and was pulling the nose hairs out with tweezers. Periodically, I would get an infection that sometimnes lasted for over a week and was very painful. I have read that it is also dangerous.
The Micro Trimmer takes just a few seconds and it does a great job. It's OK on eyebrows and other places, but standard clippers or scissors work better there.
The only downside is that it is cheaply made. It falls apart and it gets stuck. Falling apart is a nuisance. When it gets stuck, I stick a razor blade or a fingernail between the teeth and move the blade slightly. This usually frees it. If not, replace the battery.
I own 4-5 so I have one at home, in the office, in the car, and for spares. They are cheap and they work.
I would normally rate something made this poorly a 1 or a 2, but the sucker works so well I have to give it a 4.
12/31/07 update: I see where several people complain about the motor failing. I suspect that it is not the motor, per se, but the cutter getting stuck. At least a third of the time, it won't run when I turn it on. If I stick a knife blade or even a fingernail in the cutter blades and jiggle them a little, it starts right up. The motor probably is under powered, but I don't think it's failing. I stand by my previous comments. Cheap design, but when it works, it works better than anything else.

I was horrified to find out that they changed the design for the worse, since it no longer gives a close shave! They must have changed the clearance of the blades. What a waste of money. I went back to the older ER411. Let Panasonic know that they should go back to the older design which worked.

(More customer reviews)I've never dared use one of these but finally got tired of stray hairs peeking out. I put it to use last night and it works great. What more needs to be said about a nose hair trimmer??
A little more. First, the light actually is useful...just not when you've got it stuck in your nose cutting hair. Its use is when you periodically need to examine inside to see how you're doing. So spend the big bucks for the lighted model, otherwise you'll have to keep a flashlight around.
Second, when you first get it, it has a light oil film on the cutter. Good for the machinery but not so much for your nose. So I recommend you take an alcohol swab, take the cutter apart like they say and clean everything before the first use.

Rubis Stainless Steel Ear + Nose Hair Scissors Review

(More customer reviews)These are the best scissors on the market for this job (nose/ear hair trimming). I bought a pair of Seki Edge scissors as a back-up pair to the Rubis. The differences are: 1) the Rubis blades are sharper; the Seki blades are fairly sharp, just not as sharp. 2) I have medium sized fingers, but the finger holes for the Seki are a bit too small, especially for my thumb; the Rubis has much larger & more comfortable finger openings; if the openings in the Seki are too small for you, you can take out the rubber inserts, which is what I did, & they fit fine now. 3) the Seki blade tips are quite a bit thicker than the Rubis blade tips, which means that you can't get as close to your skin with the Sekis, which in turn means that your hair won't be clipped as closely as with the Rubis; again, the Seki does a good job with this, just not as good as the Rubis. 4) although the Rubis scissors are a little smaller in width & length, they are actually 16% heavier, indicating a more solid steel construction. If you want the best scissors & can afford them, try the Rubis. If you want a good to very good pair of scissors for less money, the Seki will do just fine.

No one likes to talk about ear and nose hairs - it's so unseemly -- so unsightly, so gauche! However it is a fact of life for many people and a major grooming problem. (More customer reviews)The family convinced me it was time to trim my nose hairs, so I purchased this Panasonic personal grooming device. It is compact, runs on a single AA battery, comes apart for cleaning, uses stainless steel blades, and seems safe to use.
Unfortunately, it does not cut nose hairs. It vibrates, tickles, and twirls them around, but too often fails to actually trim them off. In addition, the non-replaceable blade is designed to wear out after about two years of use.
There must be better products on the market.
Note: My experience is with the ER115KC version of this product, which is a washable variation of the ER112BC product.

Tweezerman Deluxe Nose Hair Trimmer Review

(More customer reviews)I steered towards the tweezerman line of products because their product photos portray a high level of craftsmanship.
The reality, I'm afraid, doesn't live up to expectations.
The nose hair trimmer, for example, isn't weighted properly, so it just floats in your hands... and the mechanism which rotates the inner blade isn't lubricated very well -- so it moves in a hurky-jerky fashion. Which is more than a little disconcerting.
I also find that you have to position it "just so" to clip anything at all.
I should have just purchased a pair of bull-nose scissors.

CONS:
-With an electric nose-hair trimmer you go "zzzzzzZT" and it's done. With this you have to take a minute or two to search around the nostrils and make sure you get everything.
-You have to power the thing yourself, which requires two hands and some finger action.
-For guys, it looks like you have a small stick of eyeliner in your drawer/travel case.
PROS:
-There are no batteries. I've used a few battery powered trimmers and they are not only bulky, but usually cheaply made and always eventually croak. Be it from longevity or moisture (I refuse to have something up my nose weekly if I can't rinse it off).
-It's TEENY, VERY convenient for travel, but not so small you can't fit your fingers on it.
-It's completely silent.
-It works.
-I, personally, did not experience any nose-hairs being pulled, they were cut cleanly, I didn't even feel it and had to LOOK to make sure the hairs were gone. But seriously boys, man up, even if it DID pull your nose hairs... I've never experienced a trimmer that didn't (except, now, this one) and what are you going to do, cry? Really, a nose hair being pulled doesn't hurt that badly, go get a Brazilian nose-hair wax, THAT hurts.
-Unconditional lifetime guarantee.
-The price is very fair for all of the above.
The only con for me personally is that you have to take a little time to hunt down the nose-hairs, attacking from different angles etc. However that took MAYBE 30 seconds a nostril, definitely worth it considering the product is guaranteed for life (and from other reviews I've read, the company is truly great to work with and the guarantee is legit).
This has four stars simply because I only give five stars when I say "HOLY COW! THIS PRODUCT X CHANGED MY LIFE!", and I didn't say that, but I was completely satisfied and now have cleared nostrils without the fear of batteries, pulled hairs, electrical problems, or inability to rinse my snot off of something I plan to use for years.

(More customer reviews)The price of this gadget may seem a bit steep to some, considering that it's just a small collection of chrome-plated steel parts. It will last a lifetime, though. No batteries to charge/replace, and you can easily clean it with the supplied brush and/or a dunk in the sink. As another reviewer has stated, the trimmer does have a tendency to fall apart during use, but it's easy to reassemble. I have found that simply paying attention to the screws and giving them a prophylactic tightening every once in a while avoids this problem.
All in all, I am happy with the trimmer, though I do wish they'd figure out a way to use lock washers or something to keep the screws tightly in place.

I'm an average sized guy. The trimmer has a comfortable grip and fits in my hand really well.

Until now, I've been taking a small scissors and a couple of mirrors to try to trim those pesky things. There hasn't been too much blood shed, but the whole process is ridiculous. I went searching for one of these gadgets not knowing what to expect. I could never figure out how they worked. I mean, how do you get an electric razor that small? ...
I got it, popped the battery in, and was totally amazed! It's hard to describe, but if you can picture the top of your little finger -- that's the size of this rotary electric razor that spins in a circle. I thought it might "pull" the hairs out, but it doesn't. This gadget has changed my life! They ought to put me on a commercial, but I'd be too embarrassed. This thing should be in the medicine cabinet of every man over 40... I highly recommend this product and am surprised they aren't doing mass advertising for it. If more people knew about it, it could take off and be a staple for family use. Amazon.com shipping was flawless, the product professionally packages - overall a 5 star experience and something that will save me a ton of aggravation in future years. Now if I could just get the hair on the top of my head to grow back...
