(More customer reviews)I just bought these clippers a few days ago. They were so easy to use, I can't believe I never tried this before! My husband didn't want me to clip the dogs myself, without training, because he thought they would look awful. They look terrific! An informational DVD is included, but I did not view it. I did read the directions prior to use. Very simple. Using them as a cordless clipper really makes things easy.
I read that some people had trouble with the battery, but there is a warning to charge the clippers for 24 hours prior to first use. I have two Cavalier King Charles puppies (1 year old). I was only able to clip one before re-charging, but I am probably very slow as a beginner. I just finished the second puppy, and I am even more pleased with the result than the first.
I purchased these clippers at my local WalMart for $45, but I wanted to let others know what a great deal they are. I believe that they paid for themselves with only one use on both dogs.
I am sure that if I wanted to pay $200 for a professional pair of clippers they would be much better. But these were great for the price, easy to use, easily powerful enough to clip my dogs. Now, if I can just figure out the nail clippers!!

(More customer reviews)I'd previously used a Wahl rechargeable clipper, which was great for mobility but ran out of juice too fast to do my dog's entire coat completely. (She's a 20-pound Cavachon.) Being corded, the Oster clipper has plenty of power for the job, at the expense of working around the cord. It runs cool and is not too loud, but be sure to order a separate set of guide combs unless you want your dog shaven.
Pros: Powerful, acceptable noise, cool running
Cons: It's corded, and does not come with trim guides

In the last two years they must have changed who manufactures their equipment because this one was a hunk of junk. It felt cheep as soon as I took it out of the box and when I attempted to cut my hair IT WASN'T STRONG ENOUGH! It would get bound up in about two strokes and then yank my hair. Not a very pleasant feeling.

Wahl 9765-302 RM6000 Clipper Kit Review

(More customer reviews)This is a nice clipper set, but the combs are plastic (and you know what will happen if Fido or Muffy get their jaws on them), and the blades are non-adjustable.
It's good value for the price and fits the hand well, but in my estimation works well for a small dog like our Cairn Terrier, but if I had a large dog I would want a more powerful set. It comes in a nice permanent plastic box, and has a good set of scissors with it. It's fairly quiet and didn't terrorize our dog.
If you have a large dog or a dog with a really thick coat like a Chow Chow, then I would recommend you invest in the more expensive professional model. The demonstration DVD, while not elaborate, is very helpful, and my wife and I got an acceptable result in our first attempt. Practice (on our part and our dog's) should really improve the result.
