The Wahl Clipper saves me a trip to the barber which is a real time saver. I keep my hair short so there is not a high degree of skill needed to achieve great results. I use it to trim a straight line under my moustache and it always looks good. I replaced another Wahl Clipper I had for years when I found I was lost without it. I think you will be glad you bought it.

Andis B & B Universal Comb Set 12995 Review

Then I tried to put them on, they use a 'spring' type attachment to keep them on. I noticed that the 'spring' part gets stuck often and I have to 'force' it back after use (only on some of the combs)
I'm not sure how long they will last, the 'spring' is very cheap, but does the job. They are the nicest combs I've seen other than the 'spring' issue.

(More customer reviews)I have been cutting my hair for a VERY LONG Time, but since 2004 I have been looking for and probably found the best hair clippers by choice. I can give myself a bald fade/skin fade which is about the most difficult thing to
do with hair clippers... so far. My comparisons / my clippers: I have 1. Philips Norelco QC5170 180-Degree 2.Remington? HC-8017B Corded Haircut Kit Clipper 3. *Remington HC-363. The Philips were not designed to perform Skin fades, and the The Remingtion HC-8017B clipper's CORD is an nuisance. The HC-363 has a low noise level. The Ceramic Coated Blade cuts cleaner (blade to blade cutting is smoother), and a tab bit more quiet than my corded Remington. Also, The HC-363 blades do not get hot after 10 mins of cutting time. My self sharping Remington HC-8017B blades get uncomfortable HOT.... which causes me to Line my hair FIRST prior to cutting it(You must remove guide and have blades touch skin to line up you hair line). The HC-363 blade adjustment lever has click notches which is a Plus if you perform cutting without guides. The notches (5 clicks total) allows you to remember what length or Stub/Stubble (LOL) your hair was cut too. My Remington HC-8017B lever does not have click notches, so if you bump or accidently move the lever while cutting... you will have to GUESS what position is was last at (click notches voids that issue). CORDLESS... If you cut your own hair.... CORDLESS is an absolute PLUS. The hand grip feature on the HC-363 probably would be useful if you are cutting someone else's hair... feature cannot be used cutting your own. This was my first use, so I cannot comment on the charge feature yet, but the first initial charge (approx 5 hour) held for my 20 min hair cut.

(More customer reviews)I'm a black guy, who loves to style a bald head. My wife say's it's sexy and as for me, it's easy to manage. Problem is, I like to save $40 a month, and do my own shaving. Thus, I've been thru probably ten clippers in the past 7 years. You know, the Walmart and Target brands, that sell for $20. Then they pack the box with the 15 different plastic guards, grease, and combs that you'll never use. What a waste.
Anyway, I bumped into a local barber, and he invited me to his shop, to test-drive a few set of clippers. I tried the Andis BGRC, and fell in love! When you handle the BGRC; you actually conclude three things:
1. they're not a pair of $20 Conair clippers.
2. they're professional grade!
3. this may very well be the last pair of clippers I have to buy!
Now, on to the shaving. What a thrill. When I first turned them on, I got a soft but strong hum, and they don't vibrate the hell out you, like the cheap brands. The BGRC's are smooth! Not noisy or annoying. Anyway, he continued to show me how the Andis interchangeable blade system works, and proceeded to hand me a #000 to try. What a thrill! I instantly fell in love with this trimmer. Lately, I've switched to the #00000 blade, but that's another review. Anyway, here's my take on the Andis BGRC Clipper:
PROS:
1. quality made - professional grade clippers (just ask your barber about Andis)
2. interchangeable blades (no more plastic guards) I also use to trim mustache.
3. cuts thru hair like a mad man with a straight razor!
4. zero maintenance! just oil the blades. (buy the Andis 7 and 1)
5. the 8' cord is thick and durable. plus the cord length is a plus!
6. the BGRC's can be converted to a cordless system. (check adapter pack)
7. quiet and smooth operation. (not noisy like my old clippers)
CONS:
1. None so far. I would mention the cost, but these clippers are worth it.
CONCLUSION:
Do your own research or check with your local barber about the Andis BGRC. Also, I researched that the Oster 76 are of similar or better quailty. I chose the Andis because they're maintenance free and upgradeable to cordless. One thing though; if you already own the Oster 76 or the Andis Turbo 111, their blades will also fit the Andis BGRC. Remember, the BGRC's are professional clippers, so the scaled down consumer version may work just as good for you. However, I highly recommend the Andis BGRC clippers to those who don't mind doing their own thing...........and really want to do it right!

Philips Norelco QC5055 Power Hair Clipper Review

(More customer reviews)Money is tight and I'm trying to save pennies wherever I can. My son and I need haircuts every 3-4 weeks, so the dollars add up.
These clippers make a lot of sense (cents? sorry). :)
There's not a ton of difference between me telling the girl at Supercuts to "use the #3 clippers on the sides and blend it on top" versus doing it at home, except maybe the mess. These clippers surprised me though, because they don't throw the hair all over the room the way other clippers do.
These clippers come with three different attachments: two for different hair lengths and one for a "stubble" finish. The attachments impressed me, because they were rigid enough to maintain a consistent length. I've had other trimmers where they were flimsy enough that applying pressure to the attachment would force it to cut shorter, which can be disastrous. I was also impressed with how well they clicked from setting to setting; the settings don't matter much if you can't click back to the one you want next time you use them.
I was happy to see that you could clean these clippers under a running faucet. It made it a lot easier to get a good clean result when I was done.
Finally, I was glad to see that I could use these clippers on my facial hair too. I don't like having different gadgets for different things, so it's nice to be able to use these clippers on my beard as well.

UPDATE: 7/19/2010
I was using the trimmer this morning and thought maybe I should post an update on this review. I still LOVE this trimmer, but the rechargeable battery has pretty much pooped out. I'm really glad this trimmer isn't like other rechargeable devices where you can't use them and charge them at the same time. So I just plug it in to use it...no big deal.
The other thing to mention is that the combs are starting to get a little floppy, so I have to be more careful not to apply much pressure. I scalped myself a little while trimming my beard today. No big deal this time, because the beard grows so quickly.
Bottom line...nearly a year later with LOTS of use and I still really like this product. It won't last forever, but it's still pretty reliable.

Wahl 79300-400 Color Pro 20 Piece Complete Haircutting Kit Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this today after reading reviews that it has a powerful motor. I usually get a #2 on the side, and #5 on top. I haven't had a haircut in 4 months, so my hair was a long and thick. This clipper cut right through it, no problems. Only bogged down twice.
This is the first time I cut my own hair. It turned out as good as the barber. This comes with good instructions, and links to Wahl's website with videos showing how to give different haircuts. It says to start with a thick guide. But, since I knew I always get #2 and #5, I did that, using #3 & 4 to blend the side and top. Turned out fine.
I usually pay $15 (including tip), but save money by delaying haircuts for 3-4. If this thing lasts 2-3 years, I'm going to save $120-$180. Plus, I'll cut my hair more often.
For the price, I'm impressed with the quality of the clipper. It's heavy and the motor feels powerful. The plastic case leaves a little to be desired. Everything's loose in it. And, I worry the plastic guides won't last long. But, for $20, it almost paid for itself with the first cut.
I'm usually leery of cheap products. I was going to spend $120-$150 for a professional-grade Oster Classic 76. But, since I've never cut my own hair before, I was worried about making that kind of investment. Based on the positive reviews, I gambled on this Wahl. I'm glad I did. The quality is definitely worth more than the $20 price. And, the instructional materials were valuable for a first-timer like me.
I was thinking when this breaks (after the experience I would have obtained at a low price) I might invest in a professional clipper. But, I don't know. If it lasts 2-3 years it's probably a better value to pay $20 for that length of use compared to a more expensive pro model requiring blade sharpening, replaced motor brushes, etc.

I paid 69.00 for it and it really does nice detail trimming and is a great clipper. Kuddos!!!!!! You will be happy with it. I have had a Wahl and this one is not noisy and is so comfortable in your hands and cord free. The only downfall is it does not come with a No. #2 but Called Sallys Beauty Supply and they found one to fit. the wall attachment blades do not fit on it. I would of had to return it because the #2 guard is a popular one with men haircuts. But found one to fit it at Sallys.

(More customer reviews)I've owned 3 or 4 different sets of cordless clippers over the past 5 years or so. These are hands down the winner and will probably still be using them 5 years from now. One of the biggest problems I have had with my previous clippers is that the battery would stop holding a charge. The clippers that faired the worst in that area were the Wahl Self Cut clippers where the head pivoted. Great idea but the battery in those lasted less than 6 months. These, although they look pretty plain, are very solid and feel very good in the hand while cutting. The attachment combs are a bit on the cheap side, but that isn't what I bought them for. I wanted a pair that would actually last for a while since I'm on a very limited budget, as are many nowadays. I had started researching all of the new cordless clippers, which are very few surprisingly, because I wanted to find ones that used a lithium ion battery as those are the best at holding a charge and will keep that charge even after weeks of non-use. Up until recently, I couldn't find any that had this type of battery. There were trimmers that would be great for beard trimming and such, but no clippers. When I found these being sold by Cache Beauty and the fact that they are actually made in the USA, I had no problem shelling out the $70.00 for these. That is another thing that I have had a problem with lately and that is finding things actually made in the U.S. Since I am on a limited budget, I have made a rule that anything that I need to purchase that is more than $50.00 must be made in the U.S. I don't care if I have to pay a little more for the product because I know in the long run it is best for the economy as a whole. So, if you were waiting for a review on this item because you were uncertain as to how these performed, I can tell you for a set of cordless clippers less than $100.00 these are A++.

(More customer reviews)These clippers are lightweight but I wouldn't consider them cheaply made. I cut my own hair and have used many different hair clippers over the years. These clippers aren't perfect but they have some nice features about them that I really like.
A few things that I like about them...
1. These clippers cut really well on hair that is less than 1 inch long.
2. The clippers are rechargeable and the charge will last long enough for at least a couple haircuts. It is very nice not having to fight with a cord while cutting. If your run out of charge then you can plug in the cord and keep on cutting.
3. It has a built-in and adjustable comb attachment. It can be adjusted to ten different sizes. It is nice not having to search for the correct size attachment. You can adjust it within seconds and begin cutting. Once you set the length it stays in place and doesn't move around while cutting.
4. It comes with a two year warranty which is better than most clippers come with. Most clippers will come with a one year warranty or less.
A few things that I don't like about them.
1. You cannot remove the comb in order to shave your neck.
2. It doesn't come with any type of storage / travel case.

Andis Professional 21490 Ceramic Advanced Hairclipper Review

(More customer reviews)I've been cutting my own hair for about 10 years, and I have a pretty simple style (high and tight -- kind of like a Marine cut). I've had 2 other clippers prior to this, and this is the best one yet. As the prior review states, the clipper is ceramic and moves against a steel comb. The primary advantage I find is that these clippers don't get nearly as hot as my old clippers did after 20 minutes of cutting.
As far as cutting close, I use the bare blade (no add'l or different combs used) right on my scalp and I don't think I could get any closer without using a razor. My head feels like the stubble on your chin at the end of the day. The disassembly has been fine, and the unit is easy to clean. The cord is nice and long, and seems to have plenty of power and sharpness for anything I need. I love it, and would buy again!

(More customer reviews)My wife usually does the haircutting in the family, so this was partially a gift to her. BUT, since it's my hair being cut, it's also a gift for me.
The first thing my wife said was "I love not having to deal with the cord!" We're no longer bound to the wall jacks -- wherever we can put the chair, we can cut the hair. The fully adjustable guards also make the haircut look more professional, especially if you use the beard guard for your hair. My wife barely had to use scissors at all, which is another thing she loved.
One pretty unusual thing -- these clippers have a USB JACK!!??! ARE YOU SERIOUS?! Several jokes about downloading hairstyles to the clippers later, we realized this is a pretty convenient feature. So many chargers are using USB jacks to provide power (in place of transformers, I guess), this is a pretty good idea. Makes things more compact.
Comes with a nice protective travel case.

(More customer reviews)I have a Wahl Designer hair clipper for use at home. I use the clipper only for my medium thick beard, trimming it once a week, using only No. 1 and 2 combs. Wahl seems to make good, if noisy clippers. Don't know why they don't make use of quieter technology, but 10 minutes of noisy clippers once a week is not the end of the world. I bought my first Wahl 15 years ago because I'm too impatient to spend 30-40 minutes once a week trimming my beard to perfection with scissors. I first grew my beard 45 years ago because it was 1965 and I hated shaving every day. I bought the Mini-Pro hair clipper strictly for travel use, and took a chance on that model when I couldn't find anything acceptable in Wahl's rechargeable beard and moustache trimmer line (that's another story). Like my Designer Wahl, the Mini-Pro is noisy. Like my Designer, it does a completely adequate job in about 10 minutes. I used the "hair clipper" once before I left for Europe, to see how it would do, and twice more while in Europe. The battery that came with the clipper was something of a dud. I used it before we left for Europe, and it was dead when I went to use it again, but since I brought an extra "just in case", I did not cry out to the heavens for justice.
The Mini-Pro feels well put together. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I won't know for a couple years, the length of its warranty, how well it holds up. If Wahl did their job right, since I will only use the clipper 2-3 times a year, it should hold up for many years. We'll see.
